Daddy's Home

The parents finally made it home late this afternoon, tired, weary, but glad to be in their familiar surroundings. When I left tonight, Daddy was asleep in his recliner, talking away about something. (LOL) Mama was reviewing all of Daddy's new medicines to familiarize herself with their dose and side-effects, etc... Ellen is staying with them tonight.

Hospital Once More

Grandmama is tired, but doing better now that Granddaddy is better.

Daddy is in the hospital once again. He was having difficulty breathing most of last week and by Friday night it was bad enough to go to the hospital. He was given steroids and breathing treatments by nebulizer and admitted. The doctors know he has a faulty valve in his heart that in a younger man would be repaired surgically, but they do not recommend it at his age. They are treating his asthma/emphysema, but leaving the heart as is. His heart is beating strongly, his wheezing is gone, his blood pressure is good, his appetite is good, his spirits are good, and he is coming home tomorrow, if nothing changes. This time, because of the baby, we have pics! Ha, ha!

Our Special Guests

We had some very special visitors this weekend. Our new grandbaby, Annabelle was our guest with her mother, Brittany, and our friend from Atlanta, Carol. It was a special weekend to have so many people come to see us. We look forward to seeing Brittany and Annabelle again next weekend!

Our little angel baby!

Termite Cheer Party-HSM3!

Friday afternoon, our entire family (cudos to the males for participating and supporting the females, no matter how painful it was for you) attended Gracie's cheer party. We went to our local theater and enjoyed High School Musical 3. It was pretty good, in my opinion, but I happen to like musicals. I thought Micah and Michael were going to DIE before it was over, but they made it through. At the end of the show, all the little Termite cheerleaders left their seats and went down front to the screen and danced the finale with the cast. It was cute. They screamed and applauded...they had a great time. So did I.

I am on a roll with the painting (no pun intended). The cheer sponsor is a rabid Bama fan and so for her gift from Grace and me, I painted a pot for her and made it a Bama decoration. She liked it, alot.

The Long and The Short of It

The new styles! Short and sassy and making the kids look much older. Or maybe that is just me, feeling older!

Before the haircuts! Ponytails still reigned and the thick, fluffy hair of the boy was overwhelming!

Football Season Is Over! Hoorah!

I have never encouraged nor discouraged my children's extra-curricular activities, unless due to disciplinary action. I support them every way I can in whatever activity they choose to be involved in. However, I do limit their activities to one or two each, because 1)I do not intend to be more of a taxi service than I already am, and 2) I believe that children should be exposed to many activities until they find their 'niche', at which time they can focus on that one if they choose. I refuse to overschedule my children. I believe that leads to undue pressure that is best avoided. My only other rule is that they finish what they begin. So my cheerleaders have officially finished their season and boy, am I glad! It has been fun, but now I will have a whole extra night with nothing planned and nowhere that I have to go. That is always a plus!
While Callie practiced last night for her Pom-pom routine that she performed tonight, (which was fabulous and she didn't miss a beat!) I went and got a much needed haircut. Micah was looking at a men's hairstyle book while waiting for me to be finished and found a new, shorter style that he wanted to try. So I bought him some products to help him with this new look and tonight, after the game, I cut his hair. He is too handsome for words. He has enough hair for three people and until he let me cut it shorter and thinner, he looked a bit top heavy. A bush of hair atop a thin, lanky fourteen year old's body. We may now have to beat the girls off with a stick!
So after cutting his, Callie wants her hair cut. Now that she no longer needs a ponytail for cheering, she wants it short. So off it goes. She, too, looks too cute sporting her new look. Like a full-fledged teenager and she is only eleven.
Then along comes Grace whose hair is to her waist and she wants it cut... to her chin!! Her daddy refused to allow it until I talked to him.(what is it about men and long hair?) He doesn't have to deal with it, it often looks stringy because she doesn't want to brush out the tangles, she wants to do the Locks of Love thing again, and the last time we cut it short, it was every bit as long in just a year and a half. After my rebuttal to his refusal, he agreed to let me cut it. We secured it in a ponytail and off it went ready to make some little girl with cancer very happy. Grace looks a good three years older and that, she loves! Me, not so much. She is only nine, but she is going on thirty. It does look good on her. Maybe too good.
So tomorrow, their teachers and classmates may have a difficult time recognizing them. They left the game late tonight with long hair. Tomorrow they all have quite a drastic new look. Only the children of a hairlstylist could pull that off!
