We pulled off the greatest party we have ever hosted for Mama and Daddy and it happened today! We managed to actually surprise them...they never had a clue!
It all began with the limosine. We (all their children and their spouses) picked Mama and Daddy up to take them to lunch in Greenville in a limosine. Fort Deposit is a very small town and everyone we drove past would stop and wave. And you know they are thinking, "Who is in that limo? Is it somebody famous?"
When we arrived in their driveway, they were waiting outside with the one absent sibling whose job it was to have them there. They stood there in their new Crimson Tide clothing, dressed to the nine's, speechless. Once inside, they began to be jovial and enjoy the ride with their children. We even toasted this joyous occassion with sparkling grape juice.
We joined the grandchildren and great-grands, at a restaurant in Greenville called Emily's. These ladies prepared a fine meal for us. The decor and the ambiance is so much like that of a Parisian cafe and the three sisters who own the place are so congenial. Our time spent there was better than we ever could have expected. It was just the relaxed atmosphere we were looking for to be able to touch base as a family before we set off to host this large party. We just needed a little time to "be" with each other before the chaos.
